VARIETY OF SCALING LAWS FOR DNA DENATURATION
jeudi 28 novembre 2013 , 10h25
Salle de séminaires du GPS
The subject of my talk will be DNA thermal denaturation: when two DNA strands unbind during heating. First, I will discuss the phenomenon itself as well as the minimal model suggested by Poland and Scheraga for its description. Numerous studies were devoted to defining the order of the transition between denaturated and bounded DNA states. I will briefly review some of them and discuss possible mechanisms which might impact the order of the transition and lead to changes in the scaling laws that govern conformational properties of DNA strands. The work is performed in collaboration with Christian von Ferber (Coventry).
