Theory of Non-Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics and applications to Network, Epidemiological and Biological Models Thierry Platini Virginia Bioinformatics Institute jeudi 01 décembre 2011 , 10h25 Salle de séminaire du groupe de Physique Statistique Motivated by the classification of non-equilibrium steady states suggested by R.K.P. Zia and B. Schmittmann in J. Stat. Mech. P07012 (2007), we propose to measure the violation of the ’detailed balance’ criterion by the p-norm ($||K||_p$) of the matrix formed by the probability currents. We show that the latter quantity and the average activity $A$ are both related to the probability distribution of the entropy production. Exact results are derived for the open-ASEP and open-ZRP. I will discuss three applications of the Master Equation approach to (1) Network dynamics of interacting populations, (2) stochastic model for gene expression and (3) Epidemiology modeling.
