|Quantum chaos: application to open systems and cold atom experiments|

Quantum chaos emerged in the end of the 60s in order to study the correspondence between classical one particle non integrable system and its quantum analogue. Several deep results has been derived, mostly for closed systems. For example the trace formula lets one connect the quantum spectrum with classical periodic orbits. I will show first how this tool has been generalised to open cavities, in direct connection with experiments on microlasers. Then I will also mention how a semiclassical approximation for the fidelity gives an accurate description of a mixed system. Finally I will give some motivations for new directions in this field.
